Lilia Chunir is the 11th grader for the month of March. Lilia received the highest grade point average for the first marking period out of all of the juniors in her graduating class. In fact, Lilia has stated that she has spent the past month in attempting to improve on her grades in order to be accepted at a top college during her senior year. She believes that she made considerable progress and is looking forward to continue to improve. This improvement has been noted by all of her teachers.
Math is definitely one of Lilia’s favorite subjects in school. However, Lilia says that, “in retrospect, I don’t think I would have been able to say that a few years back. When I entered high school my interest in math piqued with the help of the supportive teachers at WHSAD.” She grew more confident in solving mathematics problems that she used to struggle with. In fact, Ms. McCollum, Lilia’s Algebra 2 / Trigonometry teacher, is Lilia’s favorite teacher at WHSAD. To Lilia, Ms. McCollum has helped her understand the essentials of Algebra and Trignonometry and has given her additional assistance each time she struggled in certain areas.
In addition to her love of mathematics, Lilia is also an avid reader. To Lilia, reading offers a great amount of insight and perspective.
