Over the past four years, they've been coming to WHSAD to do design projects, and for Black History Month, this year, they’re emphasizing jazz clubs in the New York City area. Rather than looking from an architectural standpoint, the Department of Buildings is looking at the culture and the buildings that helped foster jazz culture. WHSAD’s Incubator Club attends NYNOW
WHSAD's Incubator club enjoyed taking in the inspirational energy from booths such as Areaware's at NYNOW. On Monday, February 4th WHSAD's Incubator team had the privilege to be invited to attend the NYNOW-Product and Designs trade show at the Javits Center where Aeraware had a booth. The students where able to observe how product designers tell their stories and how designers display products for wholesale buyers. Through service, WHSAD students gained a greater understanding of community. WHSAD Students Participate in MLK Day Environmental Project at Lake Como, New Jersey

Ms. Katherine Thayer provides students with an overview of Kickstarter. Creativity requires a space. Virginia Woolf argued how A Room of One’s Own is essential for women to pursue their passions, Leo Tolstoy chose the marketplace to craft some of his best work, and the inception of Apple began in Steve Jobs’ garage. Whatever the space, these geniuses, as well as countless others, have flourished due to having an incubator in which to hatch their plots and plans. Diego Sernadas-Class of 2020
Sophomore correspondents, Mayra Gomez and Maya Ortiz, conduct student of the month interviews and write-ups. Diego Sernadas is currently a junior at WHSAD where he was surprised to find out he had been selected as a student of a month for his communication abilities. He says his favorite class is Chemistry where Ms.Bui is a calm teacher while still being strict. He says he is trying to work on going back to what his freshman grades were. Sophomore correspondents, Mayra Gomez and Maya Ortiz, conduct student of the month interviews and write-ups. Tyasia Brooks, currently a senior at WHSAD, loves this school because it has a lot of great opportunities and even if you were to fall off they give you a lot of chances to rebuild. She feels like she deserves being student of the month for January because teachers have seen her at her lowest moments and have seen her grow as a person. Brandon Rodriguez-Class of 2020
Brandon’s English teacher, Mr. Rodriguez, says, “Brandon is the epitome of consistency. He keeps his complete focus on each and every task given to him in ELA. Since September, he has submitted every assignment early or on time. Not only has he submitted all of the assignments early or on time, the work has been, for the most part, exemplary.” Brandon is hard working. He always hands in all assignments the day they are due. His advice to students who are finding their school work to be difficult is to attend office hours.
