Not quite! Today we used our knowledge of periodic trends to organize unknown elements into groups based on chemical and physical properties, so that by looking anywhere on the table you could guess the properties of the unknown element.
. . . Which is exactly how the real periodic table is set up! Remember a few trends, and you can predict how most elements are going to react.
