On Thursday, February 27th, a group of WHSAD students attended a Black History Month function at the New York City Department of Buildings. Mr. Victor Body-Lawson, of Body Lawson Associates, provided insights regarding what it took for him to found a firm and the challenges related to succeeding in the architectural field.
Thank you to Ms. Lisa Lewis from the Department of Buildings for arranging the event and making the students feel so welcome.
The students’ speeches are posted below. Their work in writing and then preparing to present required commitment during after-school, weekend, and holiday hours. These students demonstrate how so many of WHSAD’s students are willing to go beyond regular school time in order to realize success.
