Kairy Castro is the 12th grade student of April.
The 12th grader for the month of April is Kairy Castro. The teachers chose Kairy because she earned an amazing 99.33 average during the second marking period–the highest average earned at the Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design.
Kairy was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of six, her father came from the Dominican Republic to help her mother raise Kairy and her two older sisters. Because of her family’s support, Kairy has always been self-motivated, often spending her free time working to improve her academic scores, working at the Gap part-time, or with her family.
Kairy’s favorite teacher at WHSAD was her 11th grade English teacher Ms. Song. Kairy appreciates Ms. Song’s help in keeping Kairy prepared and organized, just as Ms. Song’s lessons were always prepared and organized. Even though Ms. Song is no longer working at WHSAD (she is currently working on her PhD full time), Kairy and her still keep in touch and talk at a regular basis.
