Cold War Vocabulary
Containment – – the policy taken by the U.S. In order to prevent the spread of Communism.
Truman Doctrine – Harry Truman’s policy to support Greece and Turkey, as well as other states in the Mediterranean.
Marshall Plan – the American initiative to aid Europe, in which they gave economic support to help rebuild European economies after the end of World War II in order to prevent the spread of Soviet Communism.

NATO – North Atlantic Treaty Organization – military alliance between nations opposed to the Soviet Union.
