Today’s Aim: How do we write expressions from word phrases?
Homework: Worksheet 1 – 1, 1 – 2 due tomorrow, Thursday 9/19
Tomorrow we are having our first test. It is a 20 multiple question baseline assessment that I will use to figure out what the skills are that you learned in Middle School. Please bring a sharpened pencil.
Answers to today’s Sprint questions [pg. 8 # 42 – 45]
42. (15 + x) + 7
43. (3/7) y – 4
44. 12 / 5t
45. The error that the student made was that he wrote the phrase in the wrong order. The expression is 5/n which is 5 divided by n or the quotient of 5 and n.
Bonus homework question:
You write (5 – 2)/n to represent the phrase 2 less than 5 divided by a number n. Your friend writes (5/n) – 2. Are these both reasonable interpretations? Why or why not? EXPLAIN!!!
