Today we looked at the role of the Octet Rule in chemical bonding. Everything wants to have the electron configuration of a noble gas, and atoms can either lose, share, or steal electrons to do so.
Metals are likely to give up electrons, while nonmetals are likely to share or steal electrons. Sharing electrons creates a molecule, while losing/stealing electrons creates a salt.
