“Of all the nations in the world, the United States was built in nobody’s image, that’s because it was built of bits and pieces that seem discordant.”

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                (Historian Daniel Boorstin)

Today the 9th graders were introduced to their first informational text “A Quilt of a Country” by Anna Quindlen.  Anna Quindlen is a columnist and author who has been described as having a “common touch” because so many people relate to her writings on politics and gender specific issues.  In 1992, she became the third woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for commentary.  “A Quilt of a Country” was published after the World Trade Center attacks of September 11, 2001.
