Kinetics Omnibus

We spent three days learning about kinetics, or how quickly a chemical reaction happens.  There are 5 factors about which we spoke:

  • Temperature: increase to increase rate, works by adding energy
  • Pressure (gas only): increase to increase rate, works by increasing collisions
  • Concentration (liquid only): increase to increase rate, works by increasing collisions
  • Surface Area (solid only): increase to increase rate, works by increasing collisions
  • Catalyst: add to increase rate by lowering surface area
