perestroika1Perestroika (“restructuring”) – the policy of economic and government reform instituted by Mikhail Gorbachev in the Soviet Union in the 1980’s.

Glasnost – a policy that called for increased openness and transparency in government institutions and activities in the Soviet Union introduced by Mikhail Gorbachev.

Glasnost-01Upcoming Topics:

– The rise and fall of the Soviet Union

– Communist China

– Modern Revolutions in Latin/South America, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

– This week’s homework will be a packet on the Fall of the Soviet Union, due Friday, March 15th.

– We are making our way through modern global history as we begin the second marking period of the second semester.  I will use this new website format to post homework assignments, material to help prepare for the Global Regents and to communicate more ways to engage with the material we cover in class.
