Aim: What is the purpose of a gargoyle?
SWBAT: Identify the use of gargoyles both function and aesthetics.
Describe different elements of gargoyles.
Distinguish between modern and historical gargoyles.
Generate ideas.
Activity: After discussing images of the gargoyles on Notre Dam and decorative elements of the Chrysler building we talked about how to generate ideas for our own gargoyles.
Students created the following steps:
1. Create 3-5 designs of gargoyles
2. Translate one design into a paper cut-out
