At the beginning of summer a group of incoming freshmen students joined Mr. Codio and Ms. Cumberbatch’s Summer Bridge Program. They did a series of projects that taught them the basics of life at WHSAD. Although many of them are just learning how to use the AutoCAD, they all picked up the demonstrations quickly. Read the interviews below to see the reflections on the program.
In a few sentences how would you describe your summer bridge experience?
It has been fun and interesting. I like the people here, they were chill, cool, and some were helpful because if I had trouble with something they would explain to me. The work was also not complicated because we started off small and then built up to projects that were more complex.
In what ways do you think this program will help you in high school and in the future?
This program will help me in high school and in the future in a way that I will have a sneak peak on what I will be doing.
What did you like about the program and what did you not?
I liked the projects I completed and the people here. What I didn’t like was that we had to present our presentation in front of the people here.
What did you learn?
I learned how to use AutoCAD. I learned about the commands and tools I can use and the different views. For example, SPL (spline), M (move), TR (trim), EXT (Extrude), etc.
Was there a specific project you enjoyed?
I enjoyed the puzzle piece project because I outlined a puzzle piece and a design of chucky and I got to see how the laser engraving machine works.
