Jared Jackson is currently a senior at WHSAD. Below Jared expresses his feelings about being nominated as a New Era Pinstripe Bowl 2018 MVP Scholar Athlete .

How does it feel to be a New Era Pinstripe Bowl 2018 MVP Scholar Athlete?
I feel like it’s a honor to be awarded with this achievement. I feel like being a senior and running for four years this is a great achievement. I’m going to live up to the expectations that come with this award. It’s truly a great honor. To me an achievement is the reward for all your struggles and showing that all the hardships that you’ve gone through have paid off.

How can you see yourself using your role as a leader to positively impact the lives of those around you?
I see myself using my role to impact the lives of those around a lot. Especially in track, where I’m already influencing people because of the times that I run which would motivate them more to be the best that they can and to take up after I leave.
Since I’m a senior, I am going to be the leader of the sprinters. My role when interacting with my peers is to get them active and have them paying attention to what they need to do so that they can be the best that they can be.

What choices have you made which have helped you attain such success?
I would say not quitting track because there have been times when people have told me that they want to quit because they don’t feel as fast. So when you persevere and continue through these hardships it will pay off in the end.
