Christian Luna Aguirre is the WHSAD Freshman of the Month for April. He is a standout in his classes in terms of achievement and independence, and Christian possesses a work ethic that will support him for years to come. Christian’s Algebra I teacher Mr. Leverenz says, “he has been assisting others with their work, while being a very autonomous learner. He is the first one to always volunteer for extra credit and is all around a great kid.” Below, Christian shares his thoughts with student correspondent Antonio Perez regarding his nomination and why he views WHSAD as a unique learning environment.
My main goal in WHSAD is to build up my future career. This is an important goal for me because I’ve always wanted to be successful but only successful through doing what I love. I believe that with what WHSAD has offered me that end goal is becoming possible. Every day I work towards being more successful in terms of doing well in school and remaining positive. Though it may not be easy to do so, thinking about my future and success really helps to motivate me. The fact that WHSAD offers classes based solely around architecture is what I believe makes WHSAD such a unique and special learning environment. WHSAD gives you work experience and work ethic, along with morals and strong values. I believe I was personally chosen because I am determined to pass all my classes. When I’m given a task, I don’t give up and try not only my hardest but my best to complete the task on time and correctly. Architecture & Design is my favorite class because it stands out from any other class in the curriculum because of how unique it is and that it offers us an opportunity to learn about a subject not many schools offer. After graduation, I aspire to go to a college that focuses on architecture. Through extracurriculars that WHSAD offers such as architecture club and community service I can learn more than what I learn in the class and use my new knowledge to further my career. The community in WHSAD is what makes the school stand out. It’s easy to get support from teachers because of how close the community is with each other. WHSAD offers such a unique experience unlike any other high school, not only do we learn about architecture which can help prepare us for the future but we also learn important moral values that stand high in today’s society. WHSAD also rewards students who do well through fun incentive trips. This is a great motivation for wanting to try harder in school. WHSAD has given me so much experience and knowledge that I do not believe any other school could have given me. That is why I couldn’t more grateful for WHSAD.
