New Gourna

This week we are going to study sustainability and how it applies to urban planning in Africa. This is connected to the school’s partnership with the World Monument Fund. The site we will look at is New Gourna, Egypt.

After profiling this town in Egypt, students will write a response paper explaining sustainable architecture, the importance of preserving historical sites, community engagement and their thoughts on this mini-unit.
