Show your support and make your voice count by voting on issues that directly affect your child while contributing to the direction of the WHSAD PTA. For the upcoming elections, the PTA is looking to establish a nominating committee to solicit candidates for the following positions:
* President -Plans agenda and presides over the board and membership meetings. Coordinates the work of the officers and committees to promote the goals and objectives of the PTA. Works with executive board to identify and appoint committee chairs. Signs approved letters, checks, and/or other documents as required. Represents WHSAD PTA at the Leader Council of PTAs and attends Council PTA meetings and other events. Ensures that compliance and necessary reporting deadlines are met. Communicates with school administration, PTA members, and others outside the PTA and addresses any concerns.
* Vice President -Serves as an aide to the President and a liaison to committee chairs, and assists with various projects and events. Presides over meetings in the absence of the President and assumes the duties of the President if the office is vacated, until a replacement can be appointed. Oversees existing PTA fundraising activities and identifies new fundraising possibilities.
* Secretary – Records the minutes of all PTA board and general meetings. Assists with PTA correspondence, and keeps a record of PTA business correspondence received. Maintains a current copy of the bylaws, a list of officers, a current membership and a calendar of events for the PTA.
* Treasurer -Has custody of the PTA funds and keeps books of accounts and financial records including bank statements, receipts, budgets, invoices, paid receipts and canceled checks. Authorizes checks and makes disbursements for approved expenses in accordance with the budget. Maintains detailed budget files, presents financial reports at PTA general and board meetings, including a full financial report at the annual meeting.
Participating in the WHSAD PTA is the best way for parents to learn what goes into the workings of a school, the problems faced by the administrators and how to work together to effect changes to benefit our school community. Every parent is a member of the PTA and has a stake in the education of our students.
