Welcome to Term II of the 2013-14 school year.  Presently, the 10th grade is immersed in the experience of poetry:   listening and responding to poems,  and writing original poetry independently.  The students’  final project will be a typed manuscript of 10 original poems by each student.  The entire project will be due upon return from Winter Break in February.  I am assigning each poem based on a class lesson

The first poem was assigned before Regents Week: Poem # 1-  Write a Sonnet about your Hopes & Dreams.  Poem # 2 will be assigned Feb. 4-  Write a free-verse poem that uses a geographic feature symbolically, and with  descriptive imagery.  I anticipate reading all my students’ poetry this year; I hope this manuscript will be a learning experience for all of us.  Ms. Pickering
