The Six Basic Constructions

This week in Geometry we will be using a compass and straightedge to perform the six basic constructions:

1) Copying a line segment

2) Copying an angle

3) Creating a perpendicular bisector

4) Creating an angle bisector

5) Creating parallel lines

6) Creating a perpendicular line through a given point

When creating a perfect construction no numbers are involved.  We do not measure, but rather we mark off distance by creating arcs (or congruent circles) using a compass.

There are many videos on you tube that demonstrate each construction.
