AIM: How is writing a letter to a public official different from writing a friendly letter to a peer?   (form, tone, audience, purpose)

Homework: Using the format of a business letter, write a letter to a public official about an issue or problem that you want them to take action on.

*Complete Brainstorming handout.

Research, and use the legitimate address of a public official who can do something about the problem.  Research facts about the issue.

*Use the format taught in class.

4 Paragraphs (See class notes for content)

Proofread, correct, and hand in 2nd draft, with brainstorming handout.

SUMMER READING  DUE FRIDAY

Signed contract, revision / editing handout and Friendly Letter were due today.

Start your independent reading log (20 minutes each night, 5x a week, written response)   All reading logs are due October 11 for marking period 1
