WHEN are/were they sent? Progress Reports are mailed home about two weeks before each marking period ends. This is to give you enough time to take action in order to bring up your grade. Progress Reports for this marking period were sent out on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 and they should arrive at your home next week.
WHO is involved? Teachers write and send these reports to your parents and guardians. It’s a good idea for you to read them, too, and to discuss the report with your folk and teachers.
WHAT are they? Progress Reports are updates on a student’s status at school. They are usually only sent to the parents and guardians of students who are failing a class, but some teachers send a report for every student. The report could include the following: your attendance and tardiness; class participation; behavior; overall grade; areas where you seem to have difficulty and any work you are missing. Teachers also suggest steps that you can take to bring up your grade, such as making up work and coming to tutoring.
HOW do I use a Progress Report? Read your report carefully, then speak to the teacher who wrote it. Teachers truly want you to understand how you’re doing and what you can do to improve your grade. With this in mind, write down what the teacher says, make a plan with him or her and then take action soon! Progress Reports can really help you to be in charge of the grade you receive at the end of the marking period. Good luck!
