WHSAD is officially part of the AP for All program. To help WHSAD students reach their full academic potential, we want to better understand individual student expectations and aspirations. Vicente Facey Antonio Jr – Class of 2014
Vicente Facey Antonio Jr. (Class of 2014), is in his second year studying Architecture at New York City College of Technology. “My favorite part about attending WHSAD was learning skills in AutoCAD and the hands-on workshop classes. It didn’t feel like a school, but more like a place where I could enjoy a hobby. WHSAD Participates in the Sixth Annual Night of Arts at Park Avenue Armory
June 8, 2015 marked WHSAD's Sixth Annual Night of Arts at Park Avenue Armory. The evening featured galleries exhibiting student architectural designs and artwork, live performances of original and cover songs from the music club, performances of original poetry from Ms. Pickering's poetry club, and interpretive recreations of scenes from three plays covered in Mr. Rodriguez’ junior English classes (A Raisin in the Sun, Crucible, and Macbeth). WHSAD Students Visit Starbucks Design Studio
Seven students from the Williamsburg High School from Architecture and Design visited the Starbucks Design Studio in Midtown Manhattan in order to get a better understanding of what professional designers and architects go through when presented with a project. The New York office of Starbucks Design Studio is responsible for the interior design and architecture of all Starbucks stores in the eastern United States. These students not only participated in a tour of their offices, but they also spoke with Starbucks architects and designers on how they recently renovated a restaurant at American University in Washington, D.C. into a Starbucks location. WHSAD Juniors Participate in the Annual Philadelphia Trip
On April 25th, a group of WHSAD juniors and staff members participated in the annual field trip to Philadelphia, PA. The purpose of this annual trip is for students to see the roles that architecture and preservation play when it comes to monumentalizing our country's early history. Students got to see sites such as Carpenter's Hall, the site of the First Continental Congress, and Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution were signed, among others.
