On Tuesday a group of Freshman students went to the Frick Museum in Manhattan. Robert Goldsmith, the deputy director of the museum, and Mr. Brody from the architectural firm Davis Brody Bond, who designed the new enclosed Portico, gave a tour about the most resent finished Portico Gallery. Both spoke about the challenges of the design process for a historic landmark building, which requires the building not to be visibly changed. They spoke about their solution to install a modern climate control system, create wheelchair accessibility and preserving the limestone wall, Ionic columns and ceiling.
