John Fermin – Class of 2014
John Fermin (Class of 2014), is in his 2nd year studying Civil Engineering at Queensborough Community College (QCC). John took advantage of the articulation agreement that WHSAD has with QCC and earned six (6) college credits in Architecture upon graduation from WHSAD. John also works for Verizon through UNOC. Joshua Melendez – Class of 2012
Joshua Melendez is a U.S. Navy Seaman serving as an Information Systems Technician aboard the USS Anzio, a guided missile cruiser operating out of Norfolk, Virginia. He is responsible for maintaining the shipboard computers and information network. “I enjoy working with computers and helping people out,” Melendez said. “Serving in the Navy means taking care of family, and gaining a new family that you have to learn how to take care of,” Melendez said. “So it is always ship, shipmate, self and your own family.” Capt. WHSAD Students Visit Cooper Hewitt Design Museum
On October 18th, a group of students from WHSAD attended the Teen Design Fair, which is part of National Design Week in New York City. As they entered the large makeshift tent set up of the grounds of the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, they observed various round tables that were hosted by design professionals. Our students went around to the tables and spoke with designers from the fields of architecture, interior design, product design, fashion design, landscape design and many more. Tommy currently attends Laguardia Community College where he is enrolled in the AAS Paramedic Program. WHSAD Student Participate in Work-Based Learning at Wyckoff House Museum
WHSAD students engage in a 2-day preservation project at the Wyckoff House Museum in East/Flatbush, Brooklyn, in conjunction with the World Monuments Fund and the Historic House Trust of NYC.
