Here at WHSAD, students are offered a variety of options to aid them in their success. One of these options is the WHSAD Makerspace Studio after school program. The program promotes the creativity of students, while also enlightening them to the several software programs available to them.
“The WHSAD Makerspace studios keep students involved in school academic projects, helps them improve communication skills with their peers and community and industry partners, and provides more exposure for future endeavors”- Mr. Codio, Business of Architecture Teacher.

What have your experiences been over the first couple of days of the WHSAD MakerSpace after school program?
“How I heard about the WHSAD MakerSpace program was from my dad who got an email from the assistant principal telling him about the program. He’s always trying to get me into programs at school so that I can be more involved and try new things. When I heard about the program, I wasn’t really interested at all. I have a schedule that I follow every week to be more organized and so to join a program that would mess up the way I go about doing things would be absurd I felt. After a few minutes of my dad trying to convince me to go, I finally budged and decided that I would go to the first meeting to see what it was all about and if I would be interested. So far my experience in the WHSAD MakerSpace program has been exciting and interesting. When I went to the first meeting, I didn’t think I was going to like it, but after I heard about the things we were going to be working on, the opportunities, and experiences I started to get more excited.”

I am also glad that I am getting a chance to learn new programs like Maya which is an animating program that will help me make animations if I wanted to.”
