On November 7th Ronny Romano and I (WHSAD Students and members of the Bonnies Baseball team) were invited to Cocoa Beach and Boca Raton, Florida for a baseball tournament. The tournament hosted several college scouts from Miami Dade University and Florida Memorial University. We also met David Eckstein, a former Major League Baseball Player and World Series MVP. He was a former second baseman and short stop for the San Diego Padres, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
We also took part at the 64th Annual Bonnie’s Dinner with the founder of our baseball team, Joe Bonnie. Ronnie and I got up and had a chance to present ourselves with Mr. Bonnie and other people who are part of the Bonnie organization. We also had time to go to the beach and eat a lot of good food.
It wasn’t all fun and games, though. We played many games in the tournament—winning some and losing others. In all we gave it our best. We also played an alumni game against some college coaches and old Bonnie baseball players, many of which have played in the minor leagues. We also had an alumni game against some of the college coaches and the old Bonnie players which of course the coaches won. This trip was an amazing experience for all of us. In a short amount of time, we have been exposed to major and minor league baseball players, we met college coaches and scouts, met new friends, faced new challenges, , and enjoyed a little of vacation time. We are definitely looking forward to our next trip! BONNIE PRIDE!
