AIM: What does the zygote need to survive and develop into a fetus ready for birth?

Assignments: Class notes

Homework: Zygote to Fetus worksheet. EXAM FRIDAY

** Tomorrow’s Regents Review after school will be TEST REVIEW for Friday.

New Vocabulary:

Embryo- As the ball of cells advances and differentiates, it is called the embryo.

Fetus- After 8 week, the more developed organism is called the fetus. It will be called the fetus until it leaves the mother’s body.

Placenta- The embryo/fetus develops inside a sac attached to the uterus called the placenta. The placenta provides the growing embryo/fetus with oxygen and organic nutrients, and removes waste. The placenta prevents the fetal blood from mixing with the mother’s blood.

Milk- After the child is born, the mother gives her child organic nutrients, minerals, and vitamins through milk.
