AUTOCAD 2015 USER INTERFACE

Aim: How do we interact with the AutoCAD User Interface?

Learning Objectives:

Distinguish and use the different user interfaces in AutoCAD.

Entrance Procedure (3 min)

How should students enter the classroom?   What should they do once they sit down?   How should it look and sound?

Hand out copies of the AutoCAD user Interface / syllabus / lab sheet contract  Have a sit  take out their pen / pencil  , Turn on computer and open up AutoCAD

Do Now (5 min)

  1. Review previous content or preview today’s lesson content using 1-3 short questions. Activate Prior Knowledge

Guide them on how to fill in the worksheet provided List all components of the AutoCAD user interface with the help of AutoCAD?

Direct Instruction (I do): (7 min)

How will you assess which students understand the key points of your lesson and which do not understand?  Script specific questions and techniques you intend to use.

Guided Practice (We do): 5min

  1. Script the directions you will use to transition into Guided Practice.
  2. Work through example(s) as a class, having students refer back to the Direct Instruction.
  3. Have students try it in pairs or on their own and monitor understanding.
  4. Reconvene as a class to clarify misunderstandings and set expectations for Independent Practice.

How will you determine which students are prepared for the Independent Practice and which will need support?

State various questions and allow students to be in a group of two in regards to AutoCAD? Students will pair up and answer each question with their group member. Students will also use AutoCAD and its applications to help them answer the questions.

 

Independent Practice (You do): 15 min

  1. Script the directions you will use to transition into Independent Practice.
  2. Relate the activity back to the objective.
  3. Students complete the activity unassisted.
  4. Circulate to provide support and hold students accountable.

How will you monitor which students need additional support and which need extension activities?

After 12 minutes I will allow each group to stand up and answer the question or demonstrate the procedure to complete a task in relation to AutoCAD.

 

  • What are four Functions that we can find in the application menu? How can they be useful to us when working in our drawing?

 

  • When is it useful to use the information center?  Give examples
  • How can we modify what is indicated on the Title Bar?  “From beginning to end”

 

  • Why is it essential for us as CAD operators to know how to modify the ribbons and panels?  

 

  • Why is the Command Window / line considered your best friend and how can you communicate with it?

 

  • List each functions located on the status bar and their shortcut keys.
  • Students are to answer each questions in their notebook
 

  • Students are to listen to what each student have to say and comment  on rather the answer is correct or the direction the provided to the class is accurate.

 

Closing (5 min)

How will you use Exit Ticket data to determine which students mastered today’s objective?  How will this inform your future lesson planning?

I will randomly call on students that did not get a chance to participate to see rather the understood the work or not. Students will either answer or pass on the answer

Exit Procedure (3 min)

Script the directions you will use to transition out of your classroom.

What work will you collect and how should students pass it in?  How do students leave your classroom?

Instruct the class to close out of their account and pass up their work sheet and place their student contract in their notebook to take home and sign. Students will close out of their accounts and stand up behind their desk and wait for bell to ring

Homework

Students should practice skills from today or preview tomorrow’s lesson.
