Preterite (Past) Tense notes 5-14-15

You learned how to conjugate verbs in the present tense, now you are going to learn the past tense.  Study the endings below.  Remember, to conjugate a verb you take off the infinitive ending (last 2 letters) and apply the new ending.  There will be a quiz on TUESDAY.  You must study!

Example:

Yo (hablar) – Hablar is an ar verb because the last 2 letters are ar.  

My subject is Yo.  So I look at the chart and it tells me that the Yo ending for an ar verb is é

Yo habl     +     é = Yo hablé (I talked)
