On Friday, we read and discussed “Sympathy,” by Paul Lawrence Dunbar, and “Caged Bird,” by Maya Angelou.  Students took home a 10 question assessment to write, based on their study of the two poems.

Monday, continuing our poetry unit, we studied two poems by Claude Mckay; “The Tropics in New York,” and a sonnet, “If We Must Die.”
