Seniors -- are you interested in a career in the Unionized Building Trades? Want to be a carpenter? A plumber? An HVAC technician? If so, the Edward J. Malloy Initiative for Construction Skills may be the program for you! Applications are currently available to apply for next spring's pre-apprenticeship program. Starting in March, students will attend weekly sessions in advance of hands-on training next summer before being referred to a Union Apprentice program. 10th-12th grade students are now eligible to apply for positions with the Department of Buildings' Youth Leadership Council. WHSAD students have participated in the Council since it's creation in 2019. This is a great opportunity to learn about Sustainability in the Built Environment, Construction Safety, Energy Codes, Zoning, and more. Senior Dues & Pictures
Dear Parents and Seniors: ‘Senior Dues’ for the Class of 2022 will be $120.00 per Senior. Only cash and money orders are accepted, no personal checks. Below is a list of what the Senior Dues cover along with notable dates for graduation and prom. The deadline for payment is Friday December 17, 2021. Due to the difficulties families continues to face because of the pandemic the school will be covering the additional cost of the graduation venue, cap, gown and the diplomas cases this year. CUNY Application Week
WHSAD will host its annual CUNY Application Week from October 25-29. All Seniors are strongly encouraged to apply to CUNY. Application materials such as the CUNY freshman profile, viewpoint, application checklist are posted in the Class of 2022 google classroom as well as in your orange folders. Students may apply to up to six schools in one application. Fee waivers will be available for qualifying students. In light of the COVID-19 crisis, SAT and ACT test scores are not required nor considered in application review through the Spring 2023 admission cycle. Click here for more information. CTE ISP Fall Internships — Applications due from Seniors by October 22nd!
Since 2016, WHSAD students have participated in the CTE Industry Scholars Program (CTE ISP). The Industry Scholars Program provides students the opportunity to have an internship in the CTE field of their choice. Internships provide the opportunity to learn by doing real work and being productively engaged in the workplace. They may provide the opportunity to work in teams, work on a project, or rotate through a number of departments and job functions. You will develop new skills, become stronger candidates for future job and college opportunities, and grow your professional network! Please review the attached Bulletin for updates on the newly added SAT School Day - October 28th and CUNY Application Week. All Seniors have been assigned a 1-on-1 Guidance Appointment to review your road map to graduation. Please make sure you are on-time for your appointment as it will be difficult to reschedule.
