Joel Pazmino is the WHSAD Freshman of the week for January 29, 2018. Joel illustrates personal responsibility and the good habits of a successful student. His work demonstrates a high level of achievement and understanding of material. Joel’s Math teacher, Mr. Leverenz, says, “[Joel] Comes to school everyday on task ready to learn. He actively participates in class, explaining well thought out processes. When he is going to be absent, he comes prior asking for work he is going to miss or lessons he might need to look up.” Below is an interview Sophomore correspondent Antonio Perez conducted with Joel.
Personally my favorite subjects would have to be English, Algebra 1, and Spanish. I feel that I have a real passion for Algebra 1 because I have such a fascination with numbers. I enjoy being able to work with financials, and hopefully in the future I can become a banker and be involved in situations where financial skills are necessary. If I had to say what my main goals in WHSAD are, they would definitely be to simply pass each marking period and graduate on time. I for one really love how WHSAD helps to create activities for the community. Being able to help other people outside the school is what I believe makes my experience at WHSAD so special. Participating with programs such as NYCares to help clean up the streets and better our community truly makes all the hard work worth it. Honestly I believe I was nominated because of my dedication, regardless of the situation, I always try my best to figure out a solution to a problem even if I struggle. My perseverance is what has allowed me to be here and is what will allow me to future advance onto my next chapter in life.
