Jordan Gonzalez is the WHSAD Sophomore of the month of March. Jordan’s work ethic and generous make her a model student and an asset to the entire WHSAD community. She conducts herself with a quiet confidence and approaches her studies with a mixture of determination and flexibility. Jordan’s English teacher Mr. Koestner, Jordan’s English teacher, has this to say about her: ”Jordan is dependable, intelligent, and original. She comes to class everyday with the mindset of being successful. She wants what’s best for herself and she recognizes that she going to get that through a strong education and determined spirit.” Mrs. Rivera, Jordan’s CTE instructor, says,”Jordan is very comfortable with helping others. She usually takes on the leadership role even if I didn’t ask her to. So I don’t really have to go through much instruction for her to get her work done.”
Below, Jordan shares her thoughts with student correspondent Antonio Perez about her experiences at WHSAD, what she has gained from her time here, and why she believes she was nominated.
My main goal in WHSAD is to graduate and learn more about Architecture & Design. That has always been my end goal and especially with all I have learned and will learn up to graduation, that end goal has become more and more possible. A 90 average or above is my personal main academic goal. Through my creativity and hard work, this is achievable, and every day I am pushed to achieve this goal and keep going higher every time. The clubs that WHSAD offers after school are what, I believe, make the school such a unique and special learning environment. There’s something for everyone to do and because of the clubs and programs offered, we can all learn something new, something more than what we learn in class, and we can utilize what we learn in clubs to our advantage in our future. I believe I was personally chosen because I work hard and do what I have to do in my classes. When we’re given a task or an assignment, I start working immediately and I push myself to do the best I can. When an issue occurs, I utilize everything I have learned and try my best to come up with a solution. Architecture and English are my favorite classes because of the relaxed environment offered yet we still get to work hard and learn every day. After graduation, I aspire to get into a college that will enrich what I have already learned and further advance my knowledge in the field of architecture and engineering. I strive to achieve a degree in architecture. This will enable me to pursue my career choice of becoming an architect. Art and architecture club grab my attention because of the way which they let me expand my knowledge on what I’ve learned. The architecture programs and 3D printers make WHSAD special. These are tools that not many schools have and that we as students in WHSAD are blessed to be able to use and have at our disposal is just amazing. WHSAD has given me so much, just from freshman year I’ve learned so much about myself and the field of architecture. I’ve been offered opportunities that I would not have the option of receiving anywhere else. This is why I’m grateful for WHSAD.
