What have been some of your most memorable moments over the last four years at WHSAD?
I have had a lot of good memories at WHSAD; some of my favorites are meeting my best friends, hanging out with a lot of old friends, and making new friends. My first memory was taking one of my friends Joy home and chilling in Fort Greene park. She was a chill friend with whom I got along well. Sadly, she transferred sophmore year. Another memory is meeting Mr. Codio who has helped organize a lot of trips and fun activities.
What are your plans for life after high school? Why do you feel this is the best option for your at this time?
I plan on going to Kingsboro Community College to get a degree in tourism and hospitality. I know a lot about New York, especially the subway. I want to be able to help people see the city easier and learn facts that even regular tour guides won’t tell you. Or maybe I can work in a hotel or a fancy building as a doorman. No matter what, I want to be able to help people.
What are some words of advice you would give to younger students?
Don’t think of WHSAD as a school, think of it as a family. Sure there are annoying teachers just think of them as the uncles and aunts nobody likes. But there are also teachers like Mr. Baldwin. He is a dean but also a physics teacher. There was also Ms. Newton, who sadly is no longer with us. She was the best English teacher you can ever have (sorry Mr. Koestner <3).
Where do you want to see yourself five, ten, and thirty years from now?
In 5 years I want to see myself working for a rapid transit agency. Preferably the MTA either as a bus operator or a conductor or even Amtrak. No matter what, I want to be a conductor checking tickets or a motor man driving the train all over the place. 10 years I would like to be in that same job. 30 years I would like to be approaching retirement.
Who has been one person you’d like to thank for support, encouragement, love, etc.?
The biggest person I want to thank is my para/big little sister Tiffany (Ms. Como’s sister). She is the main reason I got through high school. Sure she and I get on each others’ nerves (A LOT). She is the one person who I can go to for most things and she has been through highs and lows for me. She has done the most for me more than anyone else. When I got injured to the point I could not come to school for a week, she would always call to check up on me and even bring my favorite sweets and drinks and even celebrate my birthday. I want to say she is the best person/para anyone can ask for. She has helped me so much in school and outside of it. I’m so thankful for her.
