What have been some of your most memorable moments over the last four years at WHSAD?
All the track accolades that I have achieved these four years would definitely be moments I wouldn’t forget, such as my 100m record or specifically the 55m since it was my first one. Another moment would be the overnight trip. The overnight trip would probably be a top favorite moment of mine being here since we all were together going to colleges and playing games and all just hanging out before we all split our own ways. One final one would be before I even started going here being summer bridge program. It showed that I liked being here and I wouldn’t even be here without it.
What are your plans for life after high school?
My main plan would be running in college and focusing on my major, which will be forensic science with a double major or minor in physiology. I feel this is best for me since I believe this is what I’m happy and want to do in the future no matter the money given. Also, track is just what I love doing so I don’t want to just give it up, especially when my high school years were very good. Other than this I want to explore the world expanding from just NYC. I’ll always be a NYC dude, that’ll never leave me, but I just want to see what’s out there honestly.
What are some words of advice you would give to younger students?
DO NOT SLACK OFF. That’s the main thing no matter how well you think you’re doing because if you start that comfortably stuff it’ll be hard to lock back in. Another would be always be respectful. I would say this is common sense, but we are all going through our own things and don’t need someone else making it worse being rude for no reason. Another would be stay in you’re own lane. People always get fixated on other people’s things, and they don’t focus on there own. Lastly, have fun. These years you won’t get back, and if you don’t have fun, you honestly did it wrong.
Where do you want to see yourself five, ten, and thirty years from now?
In 5 years honestly I still see myself in college focusing on my major and still running till I graduate with the degree I need. In 10 I’d say I’ll probably stop running and get an internship with said major and just living my youth years since I can never get them back. With that in 10 years I hope to be financially stable and able to live comfortably and happy. In 30 I hope I have a stable job, living good with a family with my mom taken care of as always. I hope throughout my life I live it to the fullest so I never have any regrets, just memories to look back on.
Who has been one person you’d like to thank for support, encouragement, love, etc.?
One person easily has to be my mother. If I had to choose one person 20 times, it wouldn’t be a second thought. She’s been there for me since I was born and still is. No matter how many times she gets on me for getting up late or moving slow or even doing bad on a test I know she wants what’s best for me, and I love her for that. I’ll never take it any other way. I can’t wait to show how much she has taught me in the outside world and show she raised me right.
