What have been some of your most memorable moments over the last four years at WHSAD?

My most memorable moments over the last 4 years attending WHSAD had to be the friend’s I’ve made along the way. The bonds I have made with them is something that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I remember the first week of my freshman year I was sitting inside of my Architecture class and that’s when I met George (GK), Robert, Oscar and Kevin, whom I considered my first few friends. Along the first week came everybody else with a simple, “Hello my name is”. This was a memory where I got out of my comfort zone and socialized which made me who I am today. Another memorable moment over the last 4 years was falling in love with a sport. I remember in gym class picking up a volleyball and playing with my friends. When my gym teacher who I later then realized was the coach for the high school volleyball team told me I should try out, that’s the day I decided I should give this sport a try.

What are your plans for life after high school? Why do you feel this is the best option for your at this time?

My plan after high school is to continue my passion for volleyball. As a person who played for their entire 4 years in high school, I want to become a volleyball player in college. I decided to commit to John Jay College of Criminal Justice to major in International Criminal Justice and play for their volleyball team. This is the right path for me because I can not only pursue on my career but also build my volleyball career as well.

What are some words of advice you would give to younger students?

My advice I would give to younger students is to never be afraid of trying something new. These 4 years will be seeing what certain activities you may either enjoy doing on your free time, be in love with, or it may not be for you. At the end of the day you are learning more about yourself, and that’s growth. Try to come out of your comfort zone. You may never know that certain something can be something you want to pursue.

Where do you want to see yourself five, ten, and thirty years from now?

Where I see myself in 10 years from now is a volleyball player and a coach who inspires many young athletes to become better at volleyball. With also a profile that has many sponsor’s of brands and becoming a famous athlete. I want to see myself in representing a huge brand for a sports drink or clothing like Gatorade and Nike as a side business, a role model for athletes is a dream I want to accomplish.

Who has been one person you’d like to thank for support, encouragement, love, etc.?

To be honest, there isn’t just one person I would like to thank, it’s a team. The boys and girls volleyball teams are who I would like to thank for their support and encouragement. Everyone was a great teammate, and I would even consider them as family. Ever since I joined the volleyball team as a sophomore until my senior year, everyone who was in the team whether they were alumni, the same grade as me, underclassmen, or my Coach, each had a vision that I would become a great volleyball player. This team built me from the ground up and has seen me improve and grow not only as a volleyball player but also as a person. I enjoyed every moment we’ve shared together whether it was on or off the volleyball court. Without this team I wouldn’t have been in love with this sport. Thank You.
