On Saturday April 6th WHSAD students were joined by members of the Greenpoint Youth Court to remove graffiti in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn. This volunteer work is part of an effort being made by the Greenpoint Chamber of Commerce to improve the neighborhood, and spur economic growth. Our students gave up a part of their Saturday to remove two blocks worth of graffiti right off the exit of the Pulaski Bridge on McGuinness Boulevard, which is an entry point to Greenpoint. Graffiti is no longer the first thing visitors see when they enter Greenpoint. WHSAD will continue to participate in this clean up to give back to the community where our school is located. If you are interested in participating in the next clean up event please email me at damato@whsad.org or visit my office Room 204.
A Special Thanks to….
Assistant Principal Sonia McKenna and English Teacher Jackie Newton for serving as chaperones and also participating in the clean up. Also to Tony Argento of Broadway Stages for buying all the students lunch.
