On Monday, April 15th, 75 students who were in the first marking period honor roll were invited to see the Nets play the Washington Wizards at the Barclay’s Center for free. As additional reward for their hard work, the top 15 students in the honor roll were able to sit court-side, where they were provided Nets thunder sticks by the Nets’ mascot, the Brooklyn Knight.
It was truly a magnificent experience for many of the students, some of which, like junior Luis Mercado, had never attended a live professional basketball game before.
The Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design takes pride in rewarding students who achieve academically, which result in incentive field trips for all honor roll students at the end of each marking period. The second marking period incentive trip will be a field day at Central Park, where a picnic lunch will be served. The second marking period ends on Friday, April 26th, so students should spend the following week making up missing assignments and exams in order to improve their grades so that they may take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
