What activities are you involved in? -As a Junior I am currently involved in CTA, an afterschool program focused on giving architecture students a taste of how it feels to be an architect. I'm also involved in the film club which brings our imaginations into reality using studio level filming and audio equipment. As a third year, I have also been in the article club and have written articles for the school’s website. I have also taken the responsibility and signed up for Work Learn and Grow, a program run by Saint Nick’s Alliance that helps aspiring teenagers recognize their plans after high school. What program are you part of at Coop Tech? Why did you choose to join Coop Tech?  The program that I'm in at Coop Tech is culinary arts. I chose this program because I have experience working in the kitchen, and I want to learn more about cooking so I could cook for myself and my family.  What new information have you learned so far? What do you still wish to learn? Some new information that I learned so far is baking methods and knowing different measurements and different conversions that we use when we are baking. In this series, our graduating seniors provide some insights as to where they have been and where they are going. What are your post-WHSAD plans and why do you want to take such a path? My post-WHSAD plan is to start off by going to college. I plan to go to SCAD-Savannah College of Art & Design, which is located in Savannah, Georgia. I plan to major in Interior Design as I find interior design to be fascinating and interesting. However, I am excited to see the entirety of the campus and am up for any possible change over time as I am not fully sure about what my dream career is. In this series, our graduating seniors provide some insights as to where they have been and where they are going. My post-WHSAD plans are to attend college to pursue my dreams of becoming an architect. I believe attending college would help me better my knowledge in the field of architecture by being able to take advantage of all the resources the college has to offer. Through this it would further help me grow as a person by receiving opportunities in the real world such as job positions after college. I’ve been so blessed to have received the UFT Albert Shanker Scholarship Fund Award. The process of making my mask was kind of complicated and fun because it was my first time doing something like it. The target of doing this is to understand the ways of building that are used in Architecture. The teachers taught the class about masks and different processes of building a mask. After this the class was tasked to design and build a mask. The teachers gave the class some tools to learn more about masks and some websites about the history of making masks and their meanings. This really helped me.  Then the class had to make their own research about masks that we were interested in. Zaire Rosa, if you’re a WHSAD student, you might’ve heard of him. He is the super athletic Junior who qualified for the state finals for long-jump and came in 2nd in all of New York City. Through this achievement, he was able to make history for the Van Arsdale track team. Therefore, we decided it would only be right to interview Zaire and see what his physical and mental processes were to accomplish these feats.  The track team coach, Mr. Giambrone, describes Zaire as “focused, dedicated, and disciplined”. Hi, my name is Kayara Lodge. I would rate WHSAD as a good school for students who are interested in architecture or designing, etc. In WHSAD they have fun club programs after school activities for kids. They have sewing club, gaming club, anime club, chess club, dance club, etc. For me I like to go to the sewing club with Ms. Moos after school every Wednesday and Thursday. In the sewing club, Ms. Moos teaches techniques like learning how to sew with a needle or a machine, crocheting, painting, and other things that lead to doing sewing.
