Aim: What procedures are at the core of scientific methodology?

Yesterday we talked about observations and inferences. We learned that all scientific experiments began with an observation. Today, we learned how observation leads to questioning, questioning leads to inferences, inferences lead to hypotheses, and a hypothesis leads to scientific experimentation. We learned how to set up a controlled experiment to test our hypothesis, and we learned the difference between an experimental and a control group.

Today’s DO NOW will be graded as a quiz!

Tomorrow we will be in the lab in room 506!

HOMEWORK:

1.Regents question sheet on setting up a controlled experiment.

2. You must have a pocket folder by Monday

3. If you did not turn in your contract, you MUST do this

4. Anyone who has not completed lab #1 by next Tuesday will be coming in for lunch or after school detention to complete the lab.

5. Look at the essay task posted. It is due next Thursday!!
