On March 2nd, over 60 WHSAD students from the third marking period honor roll went to the Barclay's Center to see the Brooklyn Nets take on the visiting Golden State Warriors. This field trip is part of an ongoing tradition at the Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design to reward its top students with field trips. This is the third year in a row that WHSAD students went to the Barclay's Center to root for the Brooklyn Nets. Past field trips include, but are not limited to, Broadway and off-Broadway plays, day trips to Chelsea Piers, bowling, and other sports events. WHSAD Students Go to Barclays Center to See the Knicks vs. the Nets
On Friday, February 6th, more than 20 WHSAD students were rewarded with a free field trip to see the New York Knicks versus the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. While the Brooklyn Nets enjoyed a comfortable lead during the first quarter, it turned out to be an exciting game, as the Knicks took the lead during the fourth quarter. The Nets eventually came back to beat their cross-town rival 92-88. This special trip would not have been possible if it were not for the help of Harry Van Arsdale alumni Mia Hall. Press Conference: WHSAD Launches Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program
Assemblyman Joseph R. Lentol, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney and Public Advocate Letitia James were joined by fellow legislators, New York State Regent Kathleen Cashin, teen dating violence prevention advocates, and dating violence survivors to announce the launch of the Jessica Tush Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program. The program, named after a Staten Island teenager who was slain as the result of dating violence, will be piloted later this month at Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design in recognition of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. School Closing Due To Inclement Weather on Tuesday, January 27th
The Department of Education announced on Monday, January 26th that all New York City Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 27th. All students who must take the Global History and the Integrated Algebra Regents examinations may do so on Thursday, January 29th. The Global History exam will be administered at 9:15 am.
